Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By using easySAR ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. We may update these terms from time to time — continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

2. What easySAR is

easySAR is a free tool that helps UK residents draft and send Subject Access Requests (SARs) under Article 15 of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

easySAR is not a law firm, does not provide legal advice, and use of this tool does not create a solicitor-client relationship. The letters generated are templates based on UK GDPR requirements and should be reviewed before sending.

3. Permitted use

You may use easySAR only to:

• Request access to your own personal data from organisations you have (or have had) a genuine relationship with
• Exercise your own rights under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018

You must not use easySAR to:

• Request data belonging to another person without their explicit written authorisation
• Submit vexatious, manifestly unfounded, or harassing requests
• Circumvent, overload or otherwise interfere with the Service
• Submit false or misleading information
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose

4. Your responsibilities

You are solely responsible for:

• The accuracy of information you provide when using the tool
• Ensuring you have the right to request the data you are seeking
• Reviewing generated letters before sending them
• All communications with organisations following submission of a SAR
• Any consequences arising from submitting false or vexatious requests

5. Rate limiting

To prevent abuse, the Service limits submissions to 3 per day per device. This limit is enforced client-side. We reserve the right to introduce additional server-side rate limiting without notice.

6. No warranties

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that:

• The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free or secure
• Generated letters will result in a successful SAR response
• The organisation database is complete or up to date
• Contact details for Data Protection Officers are current

DPO contact details are provided in good faith but may change. Always verify contact details with the organisation directly for critical matters.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, easySAR and its operators shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to:

• An organisation's failure to respond to a SAR
• Rejection of a SAR as vexatious or unfounded
• Any consequences of inaccurate information submitted
• Loss of data due to browser session expiry

8. Intellectual property

The easySAR name, logo and Service design are owned by [Company Name]. The SAR letter templates generated by the Service may be freely used by you for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not reproduce or redistribute the Service itself.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
